How is BGBCC like other Chamber of Commerce
BGBCC like other Chambers is a non-profit mutual benefit corporation of voluntary membership that invests time and money to carry forward programs relevant to members’ needs and that affect the orderly growth and development of the community. Chambers generally operate independently, instead of or as a chapter or franchise. There are more than 200 Black/ African American Chambers in the United States. Through the BGBCC affiliation with the Pan African Market Place and Institute and the National Cultural Heritage Tourism Center, the BGBCC is privileged to be affiliated with the National Black Chamber of Commerce – Washington D.C. However, the association, alliance or partnership that the BGBCC has to other organizations is as a voluntary affiliation and does not extend to governance. Therefore, BGBCC may partner with local chambers and other associations on various events and issues as applicable. |
